General Qualifications

Any individual must, as a condition of serving as a Trustee, supply satisfactory evidence that they meet all of the following qualifications:
  1. The individual must be in good standing with NAR, NC REALTORS® and their Local Board;
  2. The individual’s principal residence must be located in North Carolina, and the individual must be engaged as a real estate licensee (or in another recognized branch of the real estate business) at an office located within the boundaries of the State according to the records of the North Carolina Real Estate Commission or other appropriate State licensing authority;
  3. Neither the individual nor any real estate firm in which the individual is sole proprietor, general partner, or corporate officer, is involved in any bankruptcy or insolvency proceedings, or has been adjudicated bankrupt in the past three (3) years;
  4. In the past three (3) years, the individual has not been found by a court, licensing authority or other lawful authority to be in violation of any civil rights laws, any real estate/appraisal license/certification laws, other laws prohibiting unprofessional conduct, and/or the REALTORS® Code of Ethics if such violation resulted in the suspension or expulsion of the individual from a Local Board; and
  5. A written statement of support for the individual must be submitted by the current board of directors or other duly authorized body of the individual’s Local Board.

Duties of the Trustees

The Board of Trustees shall constitute the membership of the Committee and shall have general supervision and control over its affairs and funds, including the establishment of all policies of the Committee. The members of the Board of Trustees shall serve without compensation. The duties of the Board of Trustees shall include:
  • To solicit NC REALTORS PAC contributions from REALTORS.
  • To attend all NC REALTORS PAC Trustees’ meetings and functions of NC REALTORS PAC.
  • To keep informed on the political situation in their state and congressional district and to advise others in this regard as may be necessary.
  • To approve contributions to state candidates.
  • To consider any additional requests from local boards.
  • To make recommendations to the NAR REALTORS Political Action Committee for contributions to federal candidates.
  • Trustees also are expected to commit to making appropriate appearances at Local Boards within their NC REALTORS region to discuss RPAC and encourage active RPAC participation, and to report at all Trustee meetings on political activity and RPAC campaign activity within the Boards to which they have been assigned.
